The Port Townsend Main Street Program was founded in 1985, as one of five pilot programs in Washington State
established by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Today, there are over 1400 communities nationwide using the Main Street approach. The Main Street revitalization process
is centered in four areas of concentration: organization, promotion, design and economics.
The mission of the Port Townsend Main Street Program: Fostering economic vitality and preservation of place
within our historic business districts...while maintaining our small town quality of life.
